FAQ | General

  • Flash is artwork I’ve made in hopes of tattooing. I tend to prioritze this when booking appointments. At the moment you can find my most up-to-date collection of flash available on the “flash art” page of this website.

  • I do, however I prioritize work that aligns with my artistic abilities and interests. This can involve fine-line flora, fauna and astrological elements. I encourage you to reach out if you’re unsure! Even if I can't accommodate your concept I may be able to recommend another tattoo artist.

  • A form to request an appointment becomes available about every 2-3 months. You can be updated when this happens by signing up for the email list on this site or by following @jonmap on Instagram. If your design is accepted you’ll be sent a followup email to book an appointment.

  • All custom work is non-repeatable. Flash designs are typically nonrepeatable however similar versions may be drawn. In addition there may be repeatable flash sheets available for a limited time.

  • Sometimes. It’s easier the smaller & older your preexisting piece is but at times it’s still difficult to accommodate them with my particular art style. The more flexibility you have toward the subject being tattooed the better, but if I can’t accomodate it I may have recommedations.

FAQ | Process

  • Yes you can! Please state your intent to when submitting a booking request.

  • Yes- be sure to mention this in your booking form(s) so we can coordinate a date that works well you both.

  • At the moment I'm typically avoiding finger, lip & face tattoos. Given the style of the piece I may recommend a minimum size or different location for the sake of flow, clarity or longevity.

  • I do not send finalized custom designs prior to our appointment. Within a week of our session I can send a rough draft upon request. From there you can let me know your thoughts and I can add or adjust things as necessary prior to our appointment.

  • It depends on the piece. I tend to avoid working on projects that require an extensive understanding of the color spectrum (e.g. photorealism, intricate watercolor) but I do enjoy adding it in as an accent or highlight.

  • Definitely! Fine-line tattoos area delicate process both creating and caring for. All my pieces come with a free touchup in mind and if you come by for another design we can always make time to touch up older art while you’re in.

FAQ | Safety

  • Any person (18+) with valid ID can be tattooed. If you are younger than 18 I will not be able to tattoo you even with parental consent.

  • Currently masks are optional but highly encouraged. I will continue to be masked throughout all of my appointments. The studio has a HEPA air filter and the window is kept open for consistent outside airflow.

  • Space in the studio is limited- please only bring one (1) additional person to your tattoo appointment. You’re also welcome to video call anyone during your appointment if that’s helpful for you.

Because of the changing nature of global health concerns my safety measures are subject to change. Updates to them will be announced on my social media and updated here as necessary.

Let me know what question you’ve got and I’ll be sure to get back at my earliest convenience. Please do not use this form to request an appointment.
